Do you remember Golf before the Golf Channel?

If you're a true golf fan (short for fanatic in this case), then you may even remember the date January 17, 1995. That was the day the Golf Channel launched and within days, they aired their first live golf tournament (the Dubai Desert Classic — won by Fred Couples of the United States). In the decade since, the upstart cable network and cable television in general have both realized a surge in popularity. That investment by co-founders Joseph Gibbs and golf great Arnold Palmer has certainly paid off and provided an outlet for millions of golf addicts.
