Golf Balls
Thanks to advancements in technology, golf balls have come a long way from the days of the feather-filled leather pouch (the Featherie) or the Gutta Percha golf ball. Today's golf balls are built to exacting scientific standards and come in a range of options to suit nearly any preference. Some golf balls have a better bite, others spin more, and still others are more forgiving for the high-handicapper or beginner generating a slower clubhead speed.
The technological advancements in golf balls and golf clubs have not been without their controversy. Touring professionals today are hitting the golf ball further and straighter than ever before. Even some of the most difficult golf courses in the world are being tamed by well-trained professionals who can average well over 300 yards off the tee.
In the coming weeks, we will be adding pages to discuss the basics of golf ball design and manufacturing. In addition, we'll share our thoughts about the leading golf balls and the pros/cons of each. This should help you in selecting the golf balls that are best suited for your game — whether you're just starting out or breaking through to the single-digit handicap barrier.
